Weld Yellow Soap Dye
Shepherd Textiles Weld Yellow is a plant-based natural dye developed specifically for use in cold process soap. Made from just three simple ingredients — weld extract, alum, and washing soda — it will give your soap a beautiful buttery yellow shade. It’s also easy to use: just dissolve it in the lye water solution, and then blend into the oil base to produce a bright and even color without dark spots or scratchy bits. Use 3 grams of Weld Yellow per pound of soap for a deep and vibrant yellow. A one-ounce jar will dye more than 9 pounds of soap. For detailed instructions, please check out our main soap page at shepherdtextiles.com/soap.
Caution: For cold process soap only. Not for use in food or cosmetic products. Always wear a mask when working with dry pigments. Using more than the recommended amount of dye may result in dark-colored lather. Soaps colored with Weld Yellow will fade if left in direct sunlight, so cure and store out of direct sun.
