Aluminum Formate Pro™ is the aluminum mordant for cotton and linen that delivers intense colors, every time. No boiling, no chalking, and no messing around with soda ash or chemical precursors. Aluminum Formate Pro™ is an extra-strength formulation of aluminum formate that will bond to tannins at room temperature. That means it can easily be applied to tannin-treated cotton for strong and level (even) results. To use it, simply treat a piece of cotton or linen with a tannin like Sumac Extract or Oak Gall Extract by soaking the fibers in the tannin solution overnight. Then, place the treated fibers in a bucket of water with 10% weight-of-fabric (WOF) of Aluminum Formate Pro™. Let the fibers steep in this mordant bath for two hours, then remove, gently rinse, and proceed directly to dyeing.
