Handspun Ultra-Fine Merino Yarn
Handspun on a Schacht Flatiron spinning wheel from our own Ultra-Fine Merino fiber. At 14.5 μm, this is the softest and finest grade of merino wool available for spinning. Only a small fraction of merino fleeces are this soft, nearly all of them from specially bred flocks in Australia, and production is very limited. This is the perfect yarn for against-the-skin garments like hats, blankets, and scarves. It is exceptionally warm, but soft as a cloud—you can rub it against your skin and never feel even the tiniest prickle. However, it is too soft to be used for socks, rugs, or other high-friction garments. Each skein is 2-ply, approximately 4 oz, worsted weight.
