Pure Mulberry Silk Yarn, Fingering Weight (2/8)
It can be difficult to find a yarn made from pure mulberry silk that’s thicker than lace weight. That’s one reason we love this fingering weight yarn, spun in Italy from pure mulberry silk. It has an exceptional luster and a super-soft hand, almost like cashmere, but it feels cool and smooth to the touch. If you’ve never had the opportunity to work with a thicker yarn made from top-grade silk, you’re in for a treat. It also takes dye beautifully, although we recommend not letting the dyebath get hotter than 170F so that none of the luster is lost. The mill recommends a 3 or 3.5mm needle for knitting.
Each skein weighs 100g and is 400m long.
